Maritime Regulatory Liaison Group
Fostering co-operation between regulators of the maritime area is a key responsibility for MARA, identified in the Maritime Area Planning Act 2021, as amended and further called out in our Statement of Strategy.
In 2024, MARA established the Maritime Regulatory Liaison Group. The group is comprised of regulatory stakeholders operating in the maritime area and collaborates to resolve existing and emerging issues in Ireland’s maritime area.
MARA chairs the group, with members including the
- Department of Defence,
- Commissioners of Irish Lights,
- Marine Survey Office,
- An Coimisiún Pleanála,
- Irish Coast Guard,
- Underwater Archaeological Unit of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage,
- Health and Safety Authority,
- Environmental Protection Agency,
- Sea Fisheries Protection Authority,
- National Parks and Wildlife Service,
- Commission for Regulation of Utilities,
- Inland Fisheries Ireland,
- Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine,
- Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment,
- Representatives of the Coastal Planning Authorities.
