MARA has a formal structure to build and maintain collaboration with other public bodies through the creation of a co-operation agreement (Section 65 of the Maritime Area Planning Act 2021, as amended).

The arrangements that may be entered into between MARA and a public body, in so far as they relate to the maritime area include

  • facilitating co-operation in the performance of their respective functions
  • rendering assistance
  • avoiding duplication of activities
  • ensuring consistency between decisions made or other steps taken
  • enabling MARA to be consulted on decisions which affect users or proposed users of the maritime area
  • conducting joint studies or analyses of matters relating to the maritime area

Details of co-operation agreements are provided here.
