Public Consultations:
Section 117(6)(b) of the Maritime Area Planning Act 2021 sets out the statutory provisions by which MARA should carry out a public consultation where MARA has made a decision that an appropriate assessment is required.
- A Public Consultation of minimum 30 days for the public to make submissions on the licence application
- Notice of the Public Consultation will be published in local/national newspapers and on the MARA website
- MARA may also, during this period, consult with relevant public authorities which MARA believes might have appropriate observations to make on the application
- MARA will publish associated licence documents on its website
- MARA must consider submissions in the appropriate assessment
