MARA Welcomes Newly Appointed Board Members at First Meeting

The Maritime Area Regulatory Authority (MARA) has welcomed its recently appointed Board members as they attended their first MARA Board meeting at its offices in Wexford this morning.

The new members bring a breadth of experience, expertise and perspectives to the Board as MARA continues to progress its important work in regulating and managing Ireland’s maritime area.

The first meeting provided an opportunity for the newly appointed members to meet with fellow Board members and MARA’s senior leadership team, gain a deeper understanding of the Authority’s work and priorities, and contribute to discussions on the organisation’s ongoing programme of work.

Welcoming the new members, Mark Mellett, Vice Admiral DSM (RTD), Chair of the MARA Board, said:

“I am delighted to welcome our newly appointed Board members to MARA and to their first Board meeting. Their experience, expertise and commitment will be a valuable addition to the Board as we continue to strengthen the Authority and deliver on our important mandate.

MARA has made significant progress since its establishment, and we have an ambitious programme of work ahead. Effective governance, strong leadership and constructive engagement will be central to our continued success. I look forward to working with our new members as we build on the progress already made and support MARA in delivering for Ireland’s maritime area.”

The new Board members will play an important role in providing strategic oversight and governance as MARA continues to develop its regulatory functions and work collaboratively with Government, industry, communities and other stakeholders.

The Authority looks forward to benefiting from the contribution of its newly appointed members and to continuing its work in support of the sustainable, effective and responsible management of Ireland’s maritime area.

• Ciara Reynolds, representing the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment – New Appointment
• Eugene Waters, representing the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage – New Appointment
• Kevin Kelly, representing the County and City Management Association – New Appointment
• Patrick Moran, representing the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation – Reappointment

The term of their appointment is from 17^th July 2026 until 16^th July 2030
